Worship

At 10:30 on Sunday mornings we gather together at Trinity.
Under the leadership of Rev. Donald W. Kirkwood we celebrate the "Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist".
This is divided into two parts,
The Word of God and The Holy Communion.

The introduction with a Hymn, then Acclamation and Collect for Purity start off the service.

The Word of God
Begins with the Collect of the Day and is followed by Readings, or Lessons, from the scriptures. A Sermon by Father Donald W. Kirkwood precedes the Nicene Creed (a statement of our beliefs). There are Prayers of the People and an opportunity to make special intercessions, a spoken confession and request for absolution, and the Peace.

The Holy Communion
This starts with the Offering of song, bread, wine and gifts to the Altar followed with the Great Thanksgiving, the Lords Prayer and the
Communion of the People.
The Communion of the People, or Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist (The Lords Supper) is the central act of worship to Episcopalians. The Body and the Blood of Christ is the spiritual nourishment that strengthens our relationship with God. It is offered to every baptized Christian. A final Prayer, Blessing, Hymn and the Dismissal ends the service.
How does one explain "Worship", in practice at our church?
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy Name, in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!
Words: Reginald Heber, 1826. Heber died later that year in India.
Music: “Nicaea,” John B. Dykes, 1860  He named the tune after the council held at Nicaea in 325 AD, where the Christian church firmly documented its belief in the Trinity (see the Nicene Creed).
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty.” Isaiah 6:3
the background music is
HOLY, HOLY, HOLY
